The first lesson is offered at a half-price introductory rate. This is a one-off payment with no commitment required - it's simply a chance for us to get to know each other and make sure lessons are the right fit for your child.
Lessons take place during school term time only, following the local schools calendar.
Standard lessons are 30 minutes. Longer lessons are available - please get in touch to discuss.
Lessons are available at my home or at your home locally, depending on what works best for your family and availability.
Please ensure your child arrives on time. Late arrivals may result in a shortened lesson time.
Regular practice between lessons is essential for progress. Even 10–15 minutes of focused daily practice makes a significant difference. Students are expected to have access to their own instrument at home for this purpose. I am happy to advise on choosing a suitable instrument if needed.
Students are expected to purchase their own music books, method materials, and stationery as advised by myself. I will provide the details/links of where to purchase these items.
Following the introductory lesson, fees are payable in advance, by the first day of each half-term. Payment secures your child's lesson slot for the full half- term block. My current rate is £16 for 30 minutes.
By booking a place, you are committing to the full half-term. Fees are non-refundable except in the case of teacher cancellation.
If lessons take place at your home, a travel fee of 45p per mile will apply.
If you are unable to attend a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible. Missed lessons are non-refundable, however I will always do my best to fit you in at another time.
In the unlikely event that I need to cancel a lesson, a replacement lesson or full refund will always be offered.
I will not photograph, film, or record your child during lessons without your prior written consent. I ask that parents and carers extend the same courtesy when visiting my home - please do not photograph or record lessons without permission.
If you wish to stop lessons, I kindly ask for at least two weeks' notice before the end of the current half-term, so I can offer the slot to another student.
For lessons at my home- parents/carers are responsible for ensuring children are dropped off and collected on time. Alternatively, parents/carers are very welcome to stay for the lesson if they wish. If you choose to drop your child off and an unknown adult is collecting your child, I will require advance written permission from the usual parent/carer, which includes a password. The unknown adult will then need to provide me with the password before I can hand over your child.
I hold an Enhanced DBS check, details of which are available on request.
